Patents are grants made by national governments and protect new inventions. They give the owner the right to stop others from making or selling their invention.
There are many types of ideas and inventions you can patent including; a new product, a new and useful industrial or technical process, a new application of a scientific theory, and certain types of computer programs, to name a few.
It’s always advisable to work with a patent attorney when you come to draft your patent application so that you get it right the first time to save time and costs! Throughout the process there will also be several deadlines that need to be met including filing the application and beyond for each country where you wish to obtain a patent. We will ensure that the paperwork has been completed correctly and that deadlines are met.
The granted patents alongside some applications are subject to frequent renewal fees. We will track these fees and ensure that if you want them to be paid - and the patent maintained - the fees are met. Read our article on Patent Expiration and how to renew.
What to do if you have a patent dispute?
Patent disputes can happen from time to time. If you have a new product or process, it is vital to check at the Patent Office if what you want to do would infringe any other patent. You can also speak to a Patent Attorney who can investigate this on your behalf.
